Surveillance and Covert Management Training
We provide detailed, tailored and effective surveillance training dependant on your team’s most urgent and current needs. Each of our training team has outstanding individual specialist covert knowledge and skills. The content for our courses is based on the core competences required of Law Enforcement personnel undertaking covert investigations.
- Level 3 Covert Foot Surveillance Course
Learners will be able to conduct foot surveillance on a subject using approved techniques to gather information, intelligence and/or evidence, negotiating hazards whilst remaining covert and assisting team members to remain covert. Learners will be able to use a range of equipment suitable for the task and maintain communication within the team using recognised methods whilst remaining covert.
- Level 3 Urban Observation Posts Course
Learners will learn the legal and organisational requirements in relation to static covert observation posts for surveillance operations. They will be able to carry out a risk assessment and understand the restrictions that apply to surveillance of individuals. Learners will know how to evaluate premises, plan surveillance, record different evidence and intelligence and then be able to carry out surveillance.
- Level 3 Log Keeping and Disclosure Course
Learners will gain knowledge of maintaining records of communications and observations as part of a surveillance operation. They will conduct authorised activities for static, foot and mobile deployments, carrying out communications with the team using approved and recognised methods.
- Completion of the Surveillance Log Book
- Completion of the Surveillance Management record (SMR)
- Issue, storage, retention and control of surveillance log books and SMRs
- Conducting briefing and de-briefing of surveillance operations
- Disclosure issues in relation to Surveillance Log Books and SMRs
- Dealing with sensitive issues and unused material

- Management of Covert Operations Course
The course is designed to ensure those investigators who have responsibility for managing operations where covert methods and tactics are employed, are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge required to carry out that role. The course is supported by a cadre of visiting speakers, who are experts within their specialist area.
Other covert training options including more sensitive covert techniques and tactics training are available but are limited to Law Enforcement agencies. The training content can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of the individual or organisation.
