Conflict Management and Personal Safety Training
Conflict triggers strong emotions and can lead to hurt feelings, disappointment, and discomfort. When handled in an unhealthy manner, it can cause irreparable rifts, resentments, and break ups. But when conflict is resolved in a healthy way, it increases our understanding of one another, builds trust, and strengthens our relationship bonds.
- Level 3 Conflict Management Course
The course has been designed to enable learners how to recognise and assess situations that involve inappropriate behaviour that could lead to potential or actual conflict situations and how conflict can be managed.
The training equips learners with the skills to enable them to identify the causes and opportunities for aggression and violence; to increase confidence when faced with such behaviours; and to take positive action to reduce the likelihood of such incidents occurring in the future.
- Personal Safety Training
The training is aimed at lone workers and has been designed to enable learners to understand potential risks to better manage their personal safety. The learning objectives for the training include
- Understanding relevant legislation, necessity and proportionate force;
- Recognising body language and non-verbal communication;
- Recognising escalating and/or difficult behaviour;
- Develop techniques for defusing difficult situations;
- Identify personal safety measures including exit strategies;
- Recognise the post incident effects on individuals following conflict situations;
- Summarise your organisation’s procedures and guidance for dealing with and reporting situations involving conflict.
All training is customised to the client and includes a scoping session to identify internal policies and procedures.
There is the opportunity to build into the course simple disengagement techniques, which have proved very effective for those working in the care and hospitality industry.
- Disengagement Techniques
The course has been designed to enable learners to utilise disengagement techniques, where the main objective is to enable learners to be able to release themselves from a grab or hold and to step away from the aggressor.
The ability to affect a release from an aggressor, allows for time and space, to allow the learner to continue communication to diffuse a conflict situation.
